What have I been doing over the last year or so?

OK, I know this is probably of no interest whatsoever to anyone, but I'm gonna write it anyway! So...

In December 2006 I took on a temporary 6 month contract at a travel company in Preston. A friend of mine was in a position of power there and needed some help keeping the local inhabitants in line. I wasn't doing anything so I went along to see what I could do.
Initially I thought I could quite a lot to help this company and was looking forward to some challenging yet rewarding work - if only I had known!
This company was one of many masters, each intent on building their own little empires at the expense of everybody else. Never before have I worked at a place where the good of the company and employees was not only a poor second place to personal glory but was actively damaged in order to achieve it. Some might say this is a little harsh of me but I stand by what I say.
After almost 5 months of fighting to get even the most minor improvements in the I.T. workings of the company into place I decided enough was enough and just walked away. My friend parted company within the next month or so.

Undaunted by the failings of that particular company, I then took on a job in Manchester for a new start-up company working on a new website service.
